No wait time for ABA sessions between 8am-12pm

We’re in-network:

Dear Families,

One of the biggest hurdles to starting valuable therapy services is schedule availability. Because most children are in school during the day, the wait time for afternoon and evening sessions is more than ten-times longer than the wait time for morning and early afternoon sessions.

If you're experiencing a delay in essential services because you're waiting for afternoon or evening slots, I encourage you to add morning therapy sessions to your child's schedule. This is the time of day when most children are rested, alert, and able to learn the best. Research shows that starting services as soon as possible makes a significant difference in a child's acquisition of language, social, and self-care skills, which has long-term benefits for academic performance, independence, and mental health. If this involves taking your child out of school for an hour, talk with your child's school staff. Often this is possible, and the benefits of starting individualized, specialized therapies are well worth the time out of school.

When speaking with your child's teacher or other school staff..

  • Let them know what therapy or therapies your child would be getting while away from school.
  • Discuss what skills your child would be building in that therapy.
  • Discuss what your child would be missing in school during that time and how that could be made up.
  • Make sure all staff are informed and any paperwork is completed. Families who are already receiving services with Cortica are notified first when afternoon slots open up.

Sincerely,

What does our strengths based and neurodiversity-affirming approach to ABA look like?

At Cortica, we believe that your child has a greater chance of achieving their goals if the voice in their head is asking, “What s strong with me?” rather than, “What s wrong with me?” We believe that every child has strengths, and weve designed our ABA program to enhance your childs existing strengths and develop new ones. By leading with strengths instead of problems, we empower your child to succeed in their own unique way.

Our neurodiversity-affirming model of care:

recognizes that every child brings unique gifts to the world

acknowledges each child s strengths and preferences

uses language that shows respect for neurological differences

provides a personalized level of support for each child, based on their strengths, needs, and goals

improves each child s opportunities for enjoyment, learning, and advancement in everyday environments
